I never read Life of Pi, either, but I read Self, another by him, and I LOVED it. Very interesting if you're interested in the nature of gender and sexuality.

Ok, I am such a nerd because I just got totally excited by that list and the idea of it. I love it too! I am with you on Life of Pi, really didn't get into it. My recommendations for your "red" books would be to reconsider Pride & Prejudice. I enjoyed it. Also, the Harry Potter series. Hang on, I know you are probably gagging, but they really are truly entertaining and addictive. I have actually read them all twice. Even Keith liked them and he is not a book worm. That is a great book list b/c 90% of the books I've either read or want to read. Fantastic. Jill
